About Amit

What is: ‘The Power of Choice’ I hear you ask? It is a concept, a philosophy, universal truth that exists and states that all actions and perceptions are of my choosing and that they are as a result of my free will. With this deep understanding and it’s links to the working of the entire universe we can then uncover deepest secrets of the human soul and it’s potential. The power is not a tangible power with with you can do ‘magic’. Think of it more as just a way of life and way of thinking.

The principles of the power of choice are for everyone, it doesn’t matter what your background is, I assure you, that whatever your chosen path in life, this immense power will strengthen your resolve within your chosen path.

Everything began and begins with a choice…

It’s safe to say that Amit is a very unique individual. He began this blog back in December 2005 intially just as a pet project and then gradually over time expanded that into what you see before you today. UC has over 350 articles of which Amit has himself written in the region of 320.

He began his journey of personal development in 1992 when he firstly began learning meditation at the young age of 15. After a short while Amit then began the process of teaching others and by the Age of 16 he was already coaching other adults and children on the techniques of meditation.

Academics was not one of his strong points and so after leaving school with very little to show for it, Amit decided to opt for the working route and took on various part time and full time jobs until he eventually settled into his first role working in an office as an administrator.

After a few years he struggled to find purpose and reached a point where he no longer wanted to continue his life and almost ended it however a small book by the name of ‘Conversations with God’ changed all of that and then Amit entered the world of personal development.

Amit then came across a story that was forwarded to him in a chain email that sparked the whole ‘power of choice’ philosophy. The story was about a man who was the kind of man you loved to hate because he was always happy and upbeat. One day after closing his restaurant, he was cashing up when some armed men broke in, stole the money and then shot the owner. He was rushed to hospital. While at the hospital he was barely conscious but he could hear the doctors and nurses around him saying that it didn’t look good and it was likely that the man was going to die. Just then he spoke up and said: “You’re not getting rid of me that easily, I choose to live!” That lightened the atmosphere in the room and the man lived to share his tale.

It was at that point that Amit knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to share with people the power of choice and show the world that there was a new way of seeing the world and a new way of living life to it’s fullest through making powerful decisions and choices.

Even though Amit was living this philosophy in some areas of his life there were other areas of his life that needed deperate attention. At the age of 28 after he and his partner had just split Amit had reached a massive 22 stone in weight and was in a very poor state physically. It was at the point where he could barely walk down the stairs because he knees would hurt so much and he was in such bad shape. It was in that moment that Amit made one of the most important decisions of his life. He knew that he had the choice to continue on that same path and suffer from severe health problems or choose to totally change his ways! Through the power of choice Amit chose the latter and has now never looked back since.

In 2006 Amit ran his first 3.5mile run when he ran the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge and completed it in 50 minutes and did it without stopping or walking. In 2007 Amit not only ran the same race again and beat his time by 5 minutes, he also ran the 10K BUPA challenge for charity in the same week and completed that in 79 minutes, again without stopping or walking. In 2008 Amit wanted to take things to a new level so he ran the Silverstone Half Marathon. He completed it in 2h40mins without stopping or walking. In 2009 Amit hopes to run the London Marathon.

Amit believes that fear is a tool that tells us what needs to be addressed in our lives. It’s the mechanism through which we grow. In 2005 Amit jumped off a 25 foot totem polem…with a harnass attached luckily! :-P

In 2006 Amit attended the Tony Robbins UPW seminar and has now done the ‘Firewalk’ on two occasions. In 2007 he also tried fire-eating and has since quit spicy food as he now finds it too mild!

Message from Amit:

You are here because you realise that there is more to you than meets the eye…or should I say more than just enters the eye! ;-)

We are all powerful unlimited beings. When we understand that we have the power to choose and shape our future as we see fit then suddenly anything becomes possible. Never let the words “I can’t” ever hold you back from knowing your own greatest potential.

There is a special balance not only on this world but in the whole Universe. Everything is perfect as it is and yet we can make things even better. Change comes from within and is projected outwards. It’s possible to want change and yet see the perfection in everything. This is the wonder of relative time-space continuum that we reside in.

If there were on a few words I could share with you it would be this: Know that right now, in this moment, you have a choice as to how you see the world and every opportunity and you have the choice what step to take next. So ask yourself: “What choices am I making today?”
