Meeting Deepak Chopra

On Monday I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing Deepak Chopra speak personally at a seminar in London.

For those who don’t know who Deepak Chopra is, he is a medical doctor by profession but over the years has fused eastern medicine with quantum physics and has developed his own philosophy on the mind-body-spirit connection. He has written over 50 books in which he very wonderfully and succinctly explains the connections in a way which even a child could understand.

His talk was lively, entertaining and very informative. He shared some very interesting facts about the make up of the human body and how within two years every atom in our body is completely replaced and so in essence; we are completely different. So what is it that retains the information that allows me to still know myself as Amit Sodha? ;-)

During the talk we had a brief 10 minute meditation in which all we did was repeat the words to ourselves in silence “I am”. So simple and yet it was so powerful. It also reminded me of a blog post in my ‘100 Days of Wisdom‘ series from day 2.

I was so engrossed in his discussion that I didn’t take many notes but he did share 15 thoughts at the end which I wanted to also share here too. I was scribbling as fast as I could and so I believe I captured all the messages correctly but if you think I missed something please do let me know.

1) There are hidden dimensions to our existence

Jesus - The Kingdom of Heaven is within you.

2) The world is in you

Jesus - Be the world and not of it.

3) There are 4 paths to unity

Jesus - For my yoke is easy and my burden is light

4) All fulfillment comes from within

Jesus - Ask and you will receive

5) Suffering is the result of not knowing the true reality

Jesus - Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us

6) Freed comes from choiceless awareness

Be still and know that I am god

7) The world is a mirror of the self

Jesus - As you sow, so shall you reap

8 ) Evil is not our enemy , evil is the personal and collective shadow

Jesus - Resist not evil

9) You live in multi dimensions

Jesus - In my fathers house there are many mansions

10) Death makes life possible

Jesus - You must be born from above

11) The universe thinks through you

Jesus - You are the light of the world

12) The only time is now

Jesus - You are the light of the world

13) You are truly free when you are not a person; we all exist in consciousness

14) Consciousness conceives, governs, constructs and becomes reality through synchronicity, self interaction and karmic connections.

Jesus - For where there are two or three gathered in my name - I will be there

15) The goal of life is unity consciousness and transcending the limitations of space, time and causality.

Jesus - What does it profit a man to gain the world and to lose his soul.

If you didn’t get to see him this time join me in setting a very powerful intention for him to return in the very near future! :-D

John DeMartini Yesterday Evening I had the great priveledge of obtaining complimentary tickets for seeing John DeMartini speak in person. He has to be the most inspiring speaker I’ve seen to date. He really knows how to get people inspired and into action. If there was only one person I could model myself on he would be it. I could sit there and listen to him talk for hours and hours on him sharing his stories and experiences of how he has come to reach 2 billion people on the planet so far.

For anyone who is interested you can still obtain tickets to see him today, tomorrow or Friday discussing other topics such as relationships and health. The website where you can get tickets is Triumphant Events.

I went with my close personal friend Mamta who is also a Life Coach. It was her first experience of seeing him. I was fortunate enough to see him speak at Akasha back in August 2007.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, John DeMartini is a Speaker, Entreupreneur, and an author of 250+ books and he himself has read over 29000 texts in over 200 different disciplines. He also appeared on ‘The Secret’. Yesterdays talk was about ‘Breakthrough in Business’ and he cetainly delivered what he promised. The great thing about seeing Dr DeMartini is that he spent over 2 hours talking, sharing and teaching people what it takes to succeed in business and only the last three to four minutes was used by T.E. talk about his future events.

His message was quite simple and clear; if you love what you do then it takes no effort to get out of bed in the morning and do it. If you love what you do keep doing it; but if you’re doing what doesn’t align with your values then you will always be in the procrastination zone. So it’s quite simple; find what you love, do it and keep doing it, and what it takes to do what you love will also come to you!

I was fortunate to meet him at the end and share a little joke with him. I said: “John, we share something wonderful in common.” He asked: “What’s that?” I responsed: “We both both look way younger than we are!” He chuckled! I still can’t believe he’s 53!

On Monday I’m going to one of T.E.’s breakfast meetings to see Roger Hamilton. If you want to go visit their website and get yourself a complimentary ticket!

I’m off today to the Tony Robbins UPW seminar again this year but this time I’m crewing for the event. It doesn’t look like there’s internet access where I’ll be staying so this my be my last post until next Monday.

As it’s day 50, another milestone, here’s another treat for you all. Here’s a link to some notes made by someone who attended a Tele-seminar by Neil Donald Walsch, author of the Conversations with God series of books. The seminar was about his new book called Happier than God. Thanks to Shama for allowing us to share it here, enjoy the notes, there are some real gems in there!

It’s not often I go over and peruse the news articles on the BBC website but I happend to go over today and found an article up regarding meditation written by my old meditation buddy Trushar Barot. We used to attend the same meditation school together some years ago and it was just by bizarre coincidence (although coincidence is just a word, we all know better than that) that I saw a link at the bottom of one of the news articles which said “ticket to nirvana” so I decided to click and found his great article. Have a read if you get the chance! :)

Whether or not something is inherent in your belief systems, you may be in a phase whereby you choose to adopt a new belief, but you find yourself experiencing some inner conflict. The reason for this is because we naturally go through a phase, of rejection, of new beliefs, especially if they are replacing old redundant one that has been heavily ingrained within our being. During this time it’s easy to feel like you’re artificially speaking or doing the new belief. You might feel like there’s a lack of sincerity when telling people about this new belief. This is because we may have yet to see any results of our new belief systems. Once the result has been seen, even if only in tiny proportions, those beliefs will end the phase of becoming ingrained. The sincerity will come through the results.

One thing you must have, with regards to your beliefs, is flexibility. If you become obsessed with any one particular belief system, it is likely that and transition phase will be that much harder and “bruise” your ego. Hard and fast beliefs serve you in no way other than to limit your vision of the world. So, just as an experiment, make them flexible, but choose with sincerity and see what changes you find in your life from those new added dimensions.

Elsewhere on the Blogosphere,

I was just over at Secretoflife and Secret Simon put up a post about Positive thinking for beginners that sort of ties in with what I was talking about with regards to belief and results. Click here for the article.

I am also in the process of writing a post called: The paradigm of wanting Vs appreciation which also ties in. Watch out for that one soon!

I was also on Living Stress Free, Naturally and Michelle wrote this post about dealing with children’s stress. I particularly found it handy as I work with children often and so you may find some information relevant to your situation and relationship with children. The article can be found here.

Other stuff

Things are very busy for me at the moment, work is incredibly busy and I’m spending much of my time playing catchup right now. I think I could use a few tips from Jim Estill on time leadership but by next week I should be back to full blogging once again. :)

This weekend I’m off to Riga in Latvia for a Stag party. The last time I went on one was rowdy to put it mildly :P but I’ve changed immensely as a person since then and so this one is going to be an interesting challenge! :D I don’t drink alcohol and I know that all the other 17 guys around me will be drinking heavily but we’ll be doing lots of fun things like paint balling and go-karting so it should be a fun weekend none the less!

Wish me luck! :P

Be happy!

Dreaminder

I was sent a lovely email by a young man named Peep who asked me to check out his site. I loved what I saw and I loved the idea and I thought why not do a post about it.

The site is called dreaminder and the idea is that you type in what your dreams are and it emails you in the future, to remind you of what your dreams were, so you can compare them to the place you’re in at that moment in time. Here is what Peeps says about dreaminder: -

What is Dreaminder?

A place for reflection.
Take a few moments to write down your dreams for yourself. Think about the life you want and the person you want to be.

A place for You
Your dream is for your eyes only. There is no one judging or telling you what’s possible.

A place for Inspiration
If you are not sure where to start, there is a Dream Wizard that will get you in touch with who you want to be.

Know your direction
On the date you specify, you will receive your dream in the email you entered (make sure it is one you will still be using then). At that point, you have the opportunity to compare the life you live with your dreams and see how far you’ve come.

Why should I write down my dream?
A clear sense of direction is the first step towards changing your world. It can be hard to figure out what you want to do with your life and even harder to keep yourself committed to the goal. Writing your dreams down will help you refine them and remember them. Receiving your dream in the future will help you remember your direction and experience the adventure of knowing yourself.

So there we have it, make some time to check it out and keep your dreams alive! :)

5 things…
icon1 Amit Sodha | icon2 Diary Entry, Other Blogs | icon4 12 4th, 2006| icon39 Comments »

I was just peeking on Serenity’s blog and I noticed that she put up 5 things that people may not know about her and so I thought I would do the same so here goes…

1) I was once one of the leads in an operatic version we did of “Noah’s Ark” at school.
2) A friend and I once created a rap song and video which we filmed in my garage. It was called: “We’ve got the soul to rock and roll”
3) I used to be a professional magician and I did a stage act in front of about 500 people back in the late 90’s.
4) I’ve been on T.V. several times…all of which were just random times where I happened to be in the right place at the right time. I’ve never seen any of the programs I’ve appeared in, I’ve only ever been told by other people about them. (Strangers still come up to me and say: “I’ve seen you on T.V.”)
5) I once met one of the “Harlem Globetrotters” (I can’t remember which one) at my school and had a little competition with him on spinning a basketball on my finger. (I lost but I did pretty well)

It sort of coincides with two of my other recent blog posts: Virus Alert and What are your biggest spheres of influence.

Steve has given some very clear and interesting reasons on why this experiment illustrates the illusion of wanting to keep up with current affairs. I’m not saying I agree, but I like ya shtyle Shteeeve! :D
