If you were to ever listen to a Tony Robbins or a Deepak Chopra tape or CD regarding to time, you will hear them say things like time is emotion or time is a perceptual construct of the mind. I’ve been told some weird and wacky stories about time to corroborate those theories and I even have a few of my own to tell. The more and more I think about time, the more I realise that I have total and absolute control over my experience of it.

My bizarre paradoxical thought with regards to time is this, the more I realise I have time, the less I want it! I’ve realised that sometimes in order to appreciate things, sometimes you have to tell yourself there is a scarcity! How often do you appreciate the things you have in abundance? How often do you appreciate the things that are scarce? When this thought first occurred to me I had trouble accepting it. But I realised that appreciating while there is abundance is actually a greater challenge than appreciating while there is scarcity. Doing so will ensure that you never lack and through it you will attract more and more.

For me, time is an exception though. I’m a firm believer in reincarnation but I try and forget the fact that I will reincarnate after I die. The reason I do is because I try and convince myself that this is my one and only chance to make my mark in this world! THIS is my one shot to have an impact in the greatest possible way I can imagine! There may be an abundance of time for all of us but what greatness comes from thinking that you always get a second chance or third chance? What if I were to think: “I only get one shot and one shot only!” The pressure is immense but I’ve always done well under pressure so why not make it into and effective strategy to get the best from myself? Thinking about my future lives almost makes me want to procrastinate this life away with thoughts like: “I can always do it later!”

The sad thing is many people go beyond their prime years before they have this kind of realisation. Some people manage to regain their youth and turn their lives into something amazing but many die with regrets and much pain in their hearts!

I have no idea if I will die tomorrow or live to be 100! So based on this thought, not in a depressing way, but in an inspired way: “How can I make my mark today?” If I only have a very short time to achieve something then let me begin today! Let me make the time, this moment, right now! Let me be daring and take a few chances here and there to truly change the lives of many for the better! You can make this attitude habitual as doing so will give you energy even when you thought you’d used it all up! It will be the prime driving force for your day to day actions and will carry you through when the waves are rocking your boat in all directions!

There is a disclaimer though! This isn’t an excuse to go and abuse your body with drugs and alcohol just because of the scarcity of time! No, no! You can live life to the full without any of those things! In fact, abusing your body with drugs or junk will make your last moments and memories hellish! Have you not heard the stories of those who have only a short time to live and yet the somehow find the strength to go and do amazing things? I choose to be in that category of person!

No matter what your experience of time may be, find some way of appreciating the here and the now and you will find that your quality of life enhanced exponentially. Live as if this was your only life and live it as if it is short!

So, there I was in the shower a couple of days ago and suddenly the idea for this post came into my head. So are we really destined to reach a particular point in our lives and if so the question arises; does that mean, that the point that we reach is our maximum potential? Or can we surpass our supposed destiny? And if we’ve surpassed our destiny then is that new level we’ve reach our new destiny?? Who or what the heck is deciding what our destiny is anyway!

For those that have been visiting this blog often, you will already know that I don’t believe in destiny at all, I believe in choice and that choice is the supreme universal driving force. However maybe it’s a bit late to be bringing this up but that’s a tiny bit of lie! I do sort of believe in destiny, but not quite the way that some people do. I do believe in the grand design, but I also believe that the grand design is determined by our choices. Confused? Good! Now just wait till I get going! :P

Lets step back to the title just for a moment, capability vs destiny. So if we were to believe for now that we do have a destiny, does that mean then that we will reach a certain point in life or acheive a certain thing but be unable to go any further? Or are we unlimted creatures with unlimited potential within the scope of the known laws of physics? How are the boundaries of fate or destiny designed, decided or specified?

Lets say, for arguments sake, there is such a thing called destiny. If we all had a specific role to play within a grandly designed tapestry on a material we know as space-time then who or what created the tapestry. Who or what provided the fabric? Was it a God-like Taylor? With who or what does the decision or the roles of every creature on this green earth reside? And we’re just talking on a global scale here, we haven’t even begun to think about other races and life forms in the rest of the Universe!

My personal theory is that the grand design is based on constant energy. I won’t go into more detail on this particular article as I want to turn your attention now to then the possibility of capability only being limited by our imagination, emotion, desire, and yes of course, choice! As already discussed, if you support the theory of destiny you hit ceilings and barriers that almost unanswerable by nature. E.g. who or what sets the limits? With capability there is only one question that needs answering, i.e. How high? And than can only be answered by ones own self growth, through desire, drive and ambition.

Quite frankly, whether we’ve been put here for a purpose, is totally irrelevant. What is completely relevant is what are you going to do while you have the choice and capability? Are you going to be dictated to about how high you can go? Or will you choose to let the voice in your be boundless and unlimited in it’s capability! It is in fact down to “Unlimited Choice!”

It was with that in mind that I decided to rename my book from “The power of choice” to “Unlimited Choice” because that to me sums up even more how much scope there is for us as human beings.

I kept this article much shorter than I originally intended but to finish I just wanted to share this with you. Have you been watching the t.v. series Heroes? I managed to watch the final episode yesterday and as I watched my jaw dropped because for me it totally tied in with the ideas shared within this post.

I’ll try not to spoil it for those of you that have not seen it but in the final episode, Sylar, forsee’s the future, however that future is changed….what changes it? It was choice through capability! It was the decision of one person to realise his capability and then make a choice which ultimately changed what Sylar had seen as being written in the future. That episode for me sums up for me the way in which the grand design I spoke of earlier, interacts with our choices. If you haven’t seen this t.v. show, for those of you that are sci-fi fans, I highly recommend it!

Choose your destiny! (A true new paradox!)

Spin Cycles!Every once in a while you may find yourself getting bored with the same old routine. The routine becomes so mundane that your head ends up spinning as you feel like your life is just going around in circles doing the same things over and over again! This can be particularly true if you end up doing a 9-5 everyday, 5 days a week! The only break to the cycle is the weekend and even then most of the weekend is spent worrying about the fact that Monday will come around again shortly! You spend the whole week looking forward to the weekend and then it comes and you and it becomes wasted away in a dreary cycle of trying to recouperate from the gloom of the past week, then it hits Sunday evening, and panic sets in!

LIFE IS CYCLIC! There is no escaping this simple fact. We will forever be in a cycle because that’s what we’ve chosen, as I believe, to experience human existence! The Sun rises and sets. You breathe, awake, eat and sleep in cyclic fashion. The seasons rotate, after winter, must come spring. We reproduce, we’re born, we die, we’re happy, we’re sad. The list of cycles of life goes on and on. It’s quite easy to succumb to these cycles and feel like we were not meant for great things - it’s just a simple question of surviving! But maybe it’s not so much a case of what we’re meant to do, as opposed to what we’re capable of doing! I believe that even through all these continous eternal cycles of life, we have the ability to take our understanding of it to the next level. Yes the repetition can sometimes cause your brain to melt of boredom but the trick is seeing the cycle in a whole new light, a way that never even fathomed!

The real voyage of discovery consists of not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes - Proust

That saying by Proust is more true than you’ll ever realise! Being in the same position over and over again is a natural part of life, experiencing it differently each time however, is not! It’s not nature, it’s creative! It’s the part of us the unleashes the creative genius within us all! This is where children have this skill down to a tee! They can play the same game over and over but what they tend to do is create new stories or characters or imaginery situations to go along with the real ones. They have mastered how to take the mundane and turn it into something exciting and fun!

It’s natural to feel boredom from doing the same job over and over again! But since when did nature intend us to feel bored when she’s offered us so much variety! The trouble with working in an office for example is that often it doesn’t allow for much creativity! You may end up looking out of the same window, day in, day out! The same people, the same situations, the same scenario’s etc. It just doesn’t give much scope for changing the way you feel because you’re seeing and doing the same things every day!

I remember I used to work on the 11th floor of a 21 story building. On the 21st floor there is a large restaurant and you can see for miles from that point. I don’t go to that building as often as I used to, but whenever I do, because I don’t see it often, I really get to appreciate the views from being that high up! There are no other tall buildings around it and on a clear day you get to see pretty much most of London.

That’s an example of how you can appreciate something you don’t see so often but how can you appreciate, something you see everyday, in a new way? How can you appreciate the people around you that you see all the time? How do you renew your feelings of excitement and anticipation? It’s quite simple really, YOU RENEW YOU! Ok, let me repeat that, YOU RENEW YOU!

“Ok Amit you’ve finally lost it and need to be put into a crazy house” I hear you say! Yes, yes, put me in a crazy house!

Think back to how you felt when you first picked up your mobile phone and made your first phone call. How did you feel? Wasn’t it exciting to know that you could be contacted and make calls while on the move? Wasn’t it amazing at the time that we first had the technology to do that? Or think back to the first time you enjoyed the experience of sending a email! I remember that these things to me were almost orgasmic! I love technology and gadgets and when I got my first mobile phone and my first laptop I was like a kid with new toys! Remember those moments when these things were new and exciting. What’s changed since then? Nothing except that the technology is like a 1000 times more powerful! We just got used to it all and now it’s a daily occurence. We’ve forgotten how to appreciate what this technology does for us.

Think about this: When you push a key on a keyboard, lets say, the letter “K”, You see a bit lettering on a piece of plastic. Now you push that button, and electrical signal is passed from that button through a circuit board, down some copper wire, through another super circuit board, though a super proccesor which is nothing more than a bunch of tansistors etched onto a silicon die which then sends those messages to a piece of software which then translates this signal into the letter “K” in your word processor. It does all this almost instantaneously! You don’t even notice all this going on, you take for granted that this amazing world is working in the background and all these intricate processes are going on in order that you can send messages to people in a coherent language form that we can all understand! HOW AMAZING IS THAT! I have to admit I forget this sometimes but then I remind myself of all the amazing bizarre stuff going on in the background in this quantum world that we never get to see! Most of this technology has come about in the last 10 - 20 years. Just imagine what we’ll be able to do in another 20 years!?!

There are an unlimited ways you can change the way you look at things. Just think about this, as you’ve been sitting here reading this, you’ve shed skin and grown new skin in it’s place. Unconsciously your body parts are renewing themselves and you don’t even realise it! You’re brain is doing way way way more than a computer could ever do and it does it with minimal of effort! You don’t even need to be plugged into a wall socket! :P

It will forever come down to the way you choose to renew your vision of life and the great cycle we’ve chosen. To me these mysteries will always provide me hours of fascination that takes the boredom away and lets me be a part of this amazing quantum world that forever works its magic while we enjoy the benefits. Remember to always appreciate the glorious microscopic wonderful events that are going on while you’re having your coffee and donuts! :)

Renew you!

MeditationMinute meditations are a method through which you can empower yourself in many different way throughout the day. No matter how busy you are, no matter how much you have on your plate, you can always spare yourself a minute or two, 3 or 4 times a day to recharge your spirit. Remember, this is for your well being and so you will give as time and commitment to this in proportion to how important you feel your well being is to you. This is your life and your time, make it important to feel refreshed and to find time for yourself because before you know it, this thing called life, will seem way way distant in the rear view mirror.

For much of my day I sit at an office desk in front of a computer. Working in I.T. there isn’t anywhere else I have to be unless I have to fix some hardware or attend meetings. What I find is that after even just an hour or two of sitting in the same position, when it comes to getting up and moving around, I feel very stiff and brittle throughout my whole body. It takes me at least a few minutes to regain my full flexibility.

For reasons of health and safety, our HR department recommends that we have a change of activity every 30 - 45 minutes to make sure we are getting plenty of movement and not doing to much damage to the body through sitting still for so long. In front of a computer, you eyes can strain, you can get headaches, your joints can get stiff, you can get dehydrated but most importantly you can become very dull from the lack of movement. :P

So what can you do during those few minutes free? Well for me, during those times where I change my activity, I have a number of minute meditations that I use to take my focus away from work for just a moment, and move it towards the bigger picture of human existence, as a whole, and the purpose of being. I try not to challenge myself with questions or bog myself down with proving what I feel to be true, I just allow myself to sink into the experience of being and enjoy the feelings of relaxed awareness and blissful communion with my innermost core.

I offer to you some suggestions and some of the momentary thoughts I use to regain alignment and enhance congruency with my being.

Thought 1 - As I sit here, I am aware that within this universe I am interconnected with every atom. I am a vibrational being and every atom of this body vibrates at a unique frequency just like each and every cell phone has a unique frequency. I know that my state of being will attract vibrational matches and so I, being the powerful creator that I am with unlimited choices, offer vibrations of love, happiness, peace, joy, caring, compassion to everything around me so that others around me feel the vibrations emanating from me. This in turn assists them in attracting vibrational matches.

Thought 2 - I am a 3 part being, a mind, a body and spirit. The body and mind are my tools for experiencing in this realm of the physical. I, the spirit, originated from a non physical plain and chose to inherit a body to come and experience the beauty of contrast within the physical dimension. This universe of relativity exists so that I experientially partake in that which I know of but have little experience in. I cannot know darkness without light; I cannot know happiness without sorrow. So I am grateful at all times to know the purpose of this physical see-saw.

Thought 3 - Every human spirit I encounter is a reflection of me just as I am a reflection of them. As I see each soul, I remember that we are ultimately one universal family. Skin colour, religion, nationality, languages, are all constructs of this social society but it is not the baseline of existence. These are just frames of reference and identity but ultimately we all originated with one purpose, with one desire, that is; to know ourselves through physical experience.

Thought 4 - At every single step I have a choice. I choose what to feel from what moment to the next. I choose how to perceive the world. Nothing shapes my perceptions other that those things that I have chosen to believe. I choose how I react to people, events and circumstances. No one is responsible for the way I feel except me. I have the power of choice. It is my greatest gift and is the most powerful force in the universe. No matter the outcome of my choices, I will remain empowered to know that I can choose something different the next time according to the purpose I’ve chosen for myself.

Thought 5 - I am extremely grateful to be here today. I am grateful for the joy of this experience. I am grateful for all the wonderful things in my life which I get to be a part of everyday. I take nothing for granted and appreciate everything. I am thankful that I chose this particular journey. I thank my creator and maker for offering me the freedom of choice whether to be here or not and I’m glad I made the decision that I did.

These are just a few of the ones that I use on a regular basis and I encourage you to make up your own as you see fit. Make them light but profoundly impactful to you. Think of new ones on a regular basis or just make them up as you go along. There are no hard and fast rules about how you can do this. Just a minute or two a couple of times a day to go deeper within yourself and you will feel more powerful that you have ever felt before and you will find yourself naturally more grateful for all your experiences. Have fun and make it a habit! :)

VirusWoah! It’s been an absolutely manic couple of days at work. Unfortunately we got hit by the W32/Opanki.worm virus which affected many of our servers and computers at work that had yet to be patched correctly. Thankfully though, we’ve now managed to get it all under control and with a bit of TLC our servers and computers are well again! :)

The virus got me thinking though. It got me thinking about viruses that affect humanity. I’m not talking about the common cold, or the flu, I’m talking about the human mind. When I talk about viruses of the human mind, I’m talking about negative images, thoughts and words that are spread which ultimately create a result that we do not desire. Just a quick flick through the tabloids and papers will give a good indication of peoples thoughts are directed. Or does it? Is it actually, the other way around? Are those words and images being printed creating and stirring feelings within us that affect the way we think and feel? I truly think it is the latter and it is with that I have consciously decided to keep steer myself away from those things.

I picked up a tabloid paper recently and I found that my physiolgy and emotional state changed in accordance with what I was reading! That was the first time, I consciously felt those sorts of changes, I actually felt the various chemical reactions going off in my body…what does that say about the things being written about?

I don’t want to close myself off completely from what is going on in the world. Nope, that wouldn’t be just as counter productive as those things ruling my life. What I now do is I very briefly watch the news in the mornings and I have an extremely quick skim through the headlines of the newspapers in the canteen at work in the mornings. I do this to stay informed of events around the globe. For those events might require my attention at a later stage. Someone may ask my opinion, and for that, I may have a valid and constructive one to offer. It’s important to keep abreast of current affairs but i think it is unwise to be overwhelmed by events to the point where is creates stress within me because it makes me less productive.

Because I’ve reduced the amount of attention that I’ve given to t.v., newspapers etc, I’ve found that I’m much more able to focus my thoughts and attention in the area that I choose. Recently I did an experiment on seeing all humans as angels and had interesting results. More recently I’ve been creating and guiding my thoughts towards creating more abundance in my life and again I’ve had some very interesting results!

To conclude, I would say to anyone, stay informed, but don’t be overwhelmed. The feeling of being overwhelmed acts like a virus, it spreads not only through your being but to the others around you.

May the power of choice be with you! :p

This is a quick post for all those who have seen The Secret!

One of the questions that I’ve been thinking about over the past couple of weeks is how to create a sense of having the thing I desire, in the now, without actually having it. It’s not an easy thing to do by any means as you truly have to get into the experience and the feeling of having it now.

So I asked myself the question: Whats the best way to create that feeling?

The answer I got is: To pretend the thing, whatever it may be, pretend it is a past memory! Pretending that it is something I’ve already done is an extremely simple and yet powerful way of creating the feeling of having it in the now. It’s almost tricking the mind. It sounds a bit strange but it’s a great way to create the feeling! As one of my moto’s goes: The only way to know is to try for yourself! ;)

Happy Creating!

Good vs evilI feel something in the air. Change. I feel a sense of a huge shift in awareness and consciousness. To me, there are two distinct schools of thought emerging on this planet. There are those who you can feel straight away are people who are open minded and who feel like they can sense the truth about the Universe and it’s conception. And there are those who are completely oblivious to this distinct feeling of truth and knowing that is now coming into existence at this particularly amazing time of human development and evolution.

When I talk about the battle of good and evil, I don’t literally mean a physical battle, I’m talking about the clashing of these two schools of thought. Those who are beginning to open up to the possiblities of God and the physical and metaphysical universe as being one and the same thing. The great parts that make up the whole. This school of thought sees God as a being that is one thing: Pure Love. This pure love will never chastise you for calling him/her by a particular name. The other school of thought is one of mans laws and systems of control. They believe that this control gives them a sense of power and those the follow have yet to awaken to the new and wonderful possibilites of “pure love”.

TheSecretDVD.net

For the the last few weeks I’ve been seeing people on blogs all over the place like Erin Pavlina, Mystic Saint, Lyman’s Blog etc talking about this film called: The Secret.

All you need is an open mind, I don’t think anyone could really explain through words what the secret is about, all you can do it watch it and take from it what your own heart needs. It is an amazing thing, it only costs $5 for a single viewing online (less than the cost of a movie from blockbuster) or $30 for the DVD. I watched it online yesterday and then I immediately ordered the DVD.

It costs very little but I submit to you that it is worth every penny! :)

Are you looking to buy dvd players? The Internet often offers very competitive deals on things such as assortment of electronics, computers, and entertainment centers  in addition to a huge number of other items.

RushYou’ve all heard the saying: “Time flies by when you’re having fun” which is very true. Our perception of time is altered dependent on our state of mind. However, have you also noticed that: “Time flies by when you’re in a hurry?” No? Probably not because I’ve just made it up but isn’t it so true that if you’re in a rush to get somewhere, the second hand on your analogue time piece just seems go a lot faster?! But what you don’t realise is, that your entire biology goes faster and you end up ageing faster than you realise because of the physical reaction to feeling rushed or stressed! (This is also the reason why people are feeling “old” at a much younger age and also end up getting to a point where they feel like their entire life has passed them by when they’ve reached 30.)

UniverseWhen I walk around, on a day to day basis, I always observe people. If I go sit in a cafe, I just watch people carry on with their day to day agenda’s. I find this process of observing gives me inspiration for my book. One thing I’ve noticed though is that the size of the Universe varies from person to person.

Ok, I hear you ask: “What the hell is this dude talking about?” Well it’s quite simple, we all sometimes forget that we are only bacteria on the body of God. (Remember bacteria aren’t always bad, there are some good bacteria in the body too!) But there are some who consider themselves to be at the centre of the Universe. They get incredibly irritated when things don’t go their way. They feel like the Universe was created to serve their every need and when it doesn’t they use it as an excuse to get angry at everyone and everything around them. When something goes wrong they think that God/the Universe/Fate etc is out to get them! It was intentionally done to them!

This bubble becomes like an impenetrable fortress that they feel comforted by, no one can get in unless they want to allow them in!

Destiny(This was the first version that I wrote which has finally been recovered by my webhost so I thought I would put it up again! :) )

What does destiny mean to you? Does it mean that your life is fixed in time? Does it mean that it cannot be changed? Are you destined to be a doctor, a singer, an ornithologist, a lawyer, a teacher? Where and how is it set that you are to become this? Is your destiny just in your mind? Has God set your destiny for you?

Have you ever truly thought about what the concept of Destiny means to you? Or, have you been issued this word from a young age and decided to adopt it into a partial definition of yourself?

I can see a potential problem with this. As romantic as destiny can seem, it is likely that you will become lost and feel like, in some way, that the universe owes you something. Say, for example, that I thought that I was destined to be a pop star! There is a danger that I may interpret that destiny as an absolute result. That no matter what I do or don’t do, I will be a pop star! Great! I obviously have a lot of faith in destiny! But, if I do nothing to be a pop star, is it likely that I would become one? No! Saying that; “i’m destined to be” translates to being owed something by the Universe/God. You can keep repeating that statement but sooner or later you’re going to have to do something about it before opportunities pass you by!

DestinyThis is the second time I’ve written this blog as the first one got lost somewhere in the cyber-ether! I didn’t have a copy of the original so I’ve tried to re-write as much as I can from memory!

What does destiny mean to you? Are you destined for something? Who or what controls your destiny and where is your destiny set? Are you destined to be a lawyer, a doctor, a policeman, a writer, a singer, an actor etc etc etc? Can you change your destiny? Once it’s set can you do anything else?

The idea of destiny can be almost like a romantic fantasy, the idea that you might be destined for greatness or stardom. But herein lies the problem whereby the word destiny creates a sense of being owed by the universe and so the danger is that you think that this greatness will come to you without any effort on your part. You can sit around waiting for your destiny to come to you or you can go out and grab it!

In the MomentLast night the word NOWNESS popped into my head. I wasn’t even sure if it was a real word or not. I looked it up in the dictionary this morning and all though it has several meanings, the definition that I want to look at is; at the present time.

This seems to me like a good word to use and reminded me of a book I’ve seen in the book shops but never read by Eckhart Tolle called The Power of Now.

When I had that thought last night, I was meditating on what nowness meant to me. Is the present important? Is it any more important than the past or future? What is now since we are in constant motion through the universe? How long is now, a second, a minute an hour? What power is there in the now?

Think deeply about now or the present it is actually a difficult thing to grasp and understand. In Conversations with God God, depending on your own point of view on the books, describes the present as exactly that, a gift, something to cherish and be thankful for. It is literally, a present from God.

So why is nowness so important and how can it bring benefit to oneself?

LazyI found a great blog by Sykon on this subject and I thought I would just add my two cents worth as it’s something that I’ve been battling with my entire life. (Thanks for the blog though Sykon!)

Being a compulsive procrastinator, I know how hard it can be at times to get things done and how hard it can be to motivate oneself to complete any task, whethere that be assigned to us, or self appointed.

Once again I will say that writing plays a big part in overcoming the challenges that you might face. But it has to be a conscious process in order for it to be effective. To elaborate; writing a task list on the Monday of each week to plan your weeks activities is a fantastic way of showing your own mind that even though you may have a lot to do, tackling one task at a time makes them much more digestable. The trick is, to trick the mind… :)
