Tony RobbinsThis weekend, for four whole days, I will be attending the Tony Robbins; Unleash the Power Within, seminar at the Excel centre in Docklands, London! It runs from 9am until 11pm so it’s going to be pretty intense but I’m so looking forward to it and hopefully when I get back I’ll be even more supercharged than I am now!

Update: Oh, I forgot to mention, I’ll be doing the Firewalk tomorrow night too! Wish me luck! *Bites fingernails*

I’ve got so many ideas for blog posts and lots of new ideas for the blog itself, here’s a taster of whats to come…

1) I have lots of new articles in mind such as: i) POC Vs LOA (Power of Choice Vs the Law of Attraction). ii) It wasn’t meant to be. (Deserving what you get Vs Creating what you get.) I will also be putting up more of my tips on leading a happier, fuller and more enjoyable experience of life and much much more!

2) In the past, I have had many business ideas. Some have been good, some have been absolutely crap, but that’s just in my eyes. To other people they may be worth their weight in gold. As much as I would love to put all of these into action…there’s no possible way I can do that. I can try a few but there are way to many for one person persue. So with that in mind, as I have an abundance of ideas, I am going to give away all of them on here. “That’s crazy!” I hear you exclaim! Well not really, I have ideas coming out of my ears…and so even if someone takes one and makes a million, then I know that I will get more ideas and still have plenty of opportunites to create my abundance of wealth.

3) The space and forums I have at the root of this domain, I initially began them as interfaith forums. I made the decision a few moths ago that I’m no longer going to continue them and that i’m going to find some new use for that space. I haven’t decided what that is as yet but I’ll be focusing on creating new ideas over the next few weeks on what I can do with them so watch this space!

4) I also have some new ideas on some new blogs to begin. I will unlikely buy new domains, I think in this case I will probably sign up for some new blogger accounts and do the blogs there. One of the ideas I have is tips for students who are not sure what to do with life. I have a couple of other ideas too and so once I have a full and clear plan I’ll put them up here and so spread the word once they’re up and running! :)

5) With a little help from the LOA, I will have some podcasts up on this site soon! I have asked my friend to allow me some studio time and so next week, I will go in and record my 1 hr long podcasts and put them up on the site for free download! :) I will be talking about love, life, enjoyment, motivation, positive thinking, meditation, affirmations, wealth, sex, relationships and anything else that pops up in this kwaaaaaazy head of mine!

I think that’s everything for now, try not to miss me too much while i’m away  and remember; May the power of choice be with you! :D

P.S. Silver Butterfly, Kavikim, Antarananda, Epicurean, Dr Why - please feel free to post in my absense and treat this blog as your own!

I was just quickly going perusing the blogdom and came across a post by Mr Stevie P regarding his personal experiment on giving up his news addiction. :)

It sort of coincides with two of my other recent blog posts: Virus Alert and What are your biggest spheres of influence.

Steve has given some very clear and interesting reasons on why this experiment illustrates the illusion of wanting to keep up with current affairs. I’m not saying I agree, but I like ya shtyle Shteeeve! :D

I just this fabulous article written by Michelle over at her blog. It about doing more of less rather than doing less of more! I personally this is so true on so many different levels and so many different areas of our lives. It’s one of things we all sort of innately know but very few put into practise! Enjoy! :)

Edited: I also got my daily power thought from Brian Kim which basically had the same underlying message that small steps produce overall the greatest result. It said: Have you ever seen anybody jump from the bottom of the stairs straight to the top? Neither have I. I guess that’s why those stairs are there in the first place.

InfluenceWherever you go and whatever you do, there is a degree of influence going on. This influence works in many directions and on many levels. One of the things that I’ve learned as a Life Coach is that my internal influence systems (IIS) must be greater than any external influence systems (EIS).

Okay, what do I mean by that? Well firstly, you must understand that there are many factors of influence on your day to day world. These can be people as individuals, groups of people, television, radio, adverts, billboards, media, newspapers, you, careers advisors, taxi drivers, and list just goes on. All the above mentioned factors have a level of influence over you in some form or another. It will be in varying degrees and levels but what you must acknowledge is that it is happening all around you in your day to day life.

I know many people whose entire lives are ruled by the TV. They never miss certain shows and they often end up becoming like some the characters that they see. I know because I was once the same too! I love “Friends” the show, and I still watch episodes whenever I can. It was a massive influence on my life! The whole “cafe culture” was a big influence on me and now, to me, cafes are my favorite’s places to go, chill out, and write my books! :) Not only that but the humor in the show is massive influence on me and I still use some of the jokes from the show with my friends! (shhhhhhh…coz they don’t know that! :D)

Have you ever seen someone do something, which you thought was cool, and then you ended up copying them?

I got home from a long drive yesterday and I was in a great mood, I felt alive and positive as I had just been to the coast on a wonderful date  and we had a lovely relaxing evening. When I got home, I switched on the TV and as film was on called, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. Now some people are inevitably going to fans of horror movies but I saw just 10 minutes and I truly started to feel depressed and it brought my entire mood down! Now I’m not saying that it will have or has the same effect on everyone but what I am saying there is a level of influence going on, whether you feel it or not. Imagine if that’s the kind of input you get on a regular basis!!

I’m not a parent yet but in working with children frequently, I know how much kids to get influenced by all the things going on around. I’m already planning, that as a future parent, I know I will not be able to control what my child is exposed to, I can however the greater influence to my child through using all the tools I learned over the years on personal development, especially tools such as NLP, EFT, etc. They will inevitably be bombarded with things from all circles but the way I see my role is to spend as much time with them, as possible and find ways of getting them to respond to me. The great thing is that I’m slowly building those skills and gaining experience all the time!

But it’s not just children that get influenced…whether we admit to ourselves and realise it or not, I know for a fact that If I spend the next two weeks, just submitting myself to the couch and doing nothing but watching TV then of course I’m going to be influenced on some level!

Take for example advertisers; their whole profession is based on influence. They will find ways of selling their products to us, in just a few seconds with minimal effort and we will be none the wiser. They will implant suggestions within us, to get instant brand recognition through a particular piece of music for example. So as soon as you hear that piece of music, it will then trigger the thought of that product.

So this gives you an Idea of the EIS side of the things. Now onto the IIS Now in essence, this is about input and self talk. Input is very important, what you allow into your mind will go in some degree go towards what goes on in your mind. The input is EIS but contributes to the IIS. It works both ways but we’re going to focus primarily on this way around. Over the period of this year, I’ve slashed the amount of T.V. that I watch. I watch it in very small doses and when I do watch it, it’s generally very light comedies like Friends, Family Guy, Scrubs, those sorts of shows. Things that will make me laugh or programs that will educate me Like the Discovery Channel, Wildlife Shows, or programs about health like, Diet Doctors, or You Are What You Eat.

In addition to that, whenever I do housework, I listen to some audio books, the type of books that will inspire and give some useful knowledge that I can apply in my life, like books by Deepak Chopra, Tony Robbins, etc and anything along those lines that give me life skills that I can take away with to me to positively influence my life. Since I’ve been following this routine I’ve noticed a massive change in my life, it’s by no means perfect, but I have more energy, I feel excited about life, I am positive, I feel enthusiastic and my thoughts are much more clear and focused. And so what this whole process is doing is using the best EIS’s that I can find and using those to change my IIS’s. The process of influence will always continue, I will still see commercials, watch TV, listen to music, be in circles of people with influence, etc.

What this has shown me is that I have a responsibility to myself to look carefully at all the EIS’s around me and know what impact they’re having on my experience of life. Through that awareness, I can then make wiser decisions about the EIS’s and in turn affect the IIS’s so that I’m giving my soul the good fruit and not the junk food. I know that I will supervise the majority of what I let inside me and hence what will influence me the most.

So look closely around you, what are you greatest spheres of influence, are they EIS’s or IIS’s?

(Another one I wrote a few years ago…I truly hope you enjoy!)

oh speak the silent whispers, through your amazing touch,
feed me every moment, with your fruit of ecstasy,
my most beautiful dreams, are paled by your eyes,
send me your tears, moisten my cheek for i cannot,

let me carry you across this river, be safe in my arms,
i only fly, when you are on the tip of my tounge,
inhale your sweet scent, and filled am i with all glory,
kiss your soft lips, lightning strikes me twice,

feel your whole body next to mine, hell freezes over,
a simple gaze at me, you pierce my innermost being,
you hold me till dawn, sunrise pales and shys away,
in sharing your secrets, songs don’t mean a thing.

i guess what i’m trying to say is,
you are my breath,
you are my motion,
you are my heaven.

A little poem i wrote, written while on my travels!

I take one journey, hop onto the next

Never knowing what destination awaits me

Stir of anxiousness inside my belly, excitement, fear, worry

Drowning my senses

Echo’s whisper inside my mind, swaying me from side to side

Never brings me peace, but keeps my sleep restless

Keeping me small as I run out of time

Flowing so passionate for love to give you

Never being selfish to the feelings I feel

Being your shoulder, your strength, your shelter

Never showing you that this bleeding shoulder needs to heal

Hold you, so natural, so calm and so soothing

Breaking down barriers that were once carved in stone

Do I know who I am, how to get there, to become

When I look in your eyes, I know I am home

Pray that someday you will feel that love to

I long to be with you and I long for your touch

Until that one moment I will hold you so dear

Even if this young and naive heart of mine feels crushed.

Greener GrassI have many conversations with individuals on a daily basis and one of the common themes I encounter is the thought that, “if I was in a different place, I wouldn’t have any of these problems.” You may not have those exact same problems but you will continue to face challenges whatever your situation may be. Whether you see it now or not, challenges in life are the things that make us grow. Challenges will differ from pasture to pasture but will be there none the less.

The grass ALWAYS appears greener!

As much as your situation may seem tough and difficult, looking at the lives and situations of others will always be the quickest way of getting a trip the doc’s office and being prescribed some Prozac! As much as we may see the situation of another as cosy and something that we may desire, the reality is always different. I remember on countless occasions seeing someone and really desiring everything that the person had. But then I got to know them well and I realised that all was not as cosy as it seemed!

EVERYONE faces challenges. (Notice I call them challenges and not problems.) The word “problem” always invokes a feeling of depression, a feeling of loneliness, a feeling of anxiety. The word “challenge” invokes a very different feeling. It invokes a feeling of intense drive, a feeling of excitement, a feeling that a personal triumph is to come at the end of the challenge. Three different people have recently said almost the exact same thing to me, it was along the lines of, “My life seems to be standing still, everyone else around me is moving forward; they’re achieving so much and doing something exciting. I have nothing going for me.” etc etc.

First and foremost, you are amazing! Whatever may be going on in your life right now, as difficult as it may seem, as depressed as you maybe as tough things appear to be, let me tell you that appearances are very deceiving. The reason that appearances are deceptive is because appearances are based on perception and perceptions can be altered very easily. The first perception to change is problems into challenges. If you can find some way to change your perception of you current situation you will have found the secret to solving it. A solid question is the best way to go. Find a way of approaching the problem from a different angel, sorry, that was supposed to be angle, and the way is through the questions you ask yourself. If you ask yourself these questions, the inevitable result will be depression. Questions like:

1) Why is this happening to me?
2) Why do I always feel like this?
3) Why am I the only one that seems to feel like this?

Can you see the pattern there and what the resulting feelings and attitudes will be?

Focus your questions from a different angel, sorry, angle! :p

1) What can I do to turn this around?
2) How can I help others in the same situation?
3) How can I turn this situation into my strength?

Notice the pattern of feeling that these questions aim to create?

I know how tough it is, I too am facing many similar challenges on a daily basis, the only difference being the way I perceive the challenges ahead of me. Just today, I went to the hospital, I’m not sure what it is, whether it’s the way the doctors are trained, but every time I go to the hospital, I end up coming out depressed and today was no exception. The doc almost brought me to tears with the news he gave me and yet as soon as I left the hospital and got back to the car, I felt great! It’s only because the focus on the physical problem that I fell into that state of depression, as soon as I changed my focus I felt my usual ecstatic, happy self! That’s the difference; I have now created the habit of changing my focus to the angle that I choose. It is that which is the secret of being happier, healthier and being able to direct my life the way that I choose.

Change does not occur overnight but there must be conscious change. The way to that is to set reminders for yourself. Just as you set an alarm clock to wake up, set reminders around the house for the path you wish to take. Leave post it notes on your bathroom mirror, next to your bed, in your diary, or wherever else you think they would benefit you. Surround yourself with people that have similar goals to you. Immerse yourself in books that encourage positive change. There are so many resources on the internet that are free. Get some audio books that you can listen to in the background while doing your day to day activities. Stick them on your MP3 players and listen to them throughout the day!

Most importantly, stick with me kids and you’ll go far! :D

I actually wrote this post with 3 very special people in mind, I won’t use your real names, but Aloo, Fudge and Nimbu (my endearing nicknames for these wonderful friends of mine). Remember that I love you always. You are very special to me! I know things are not easy but I don’t believe in coincidence, I know that we’ve chosen to meet to enrich each other, to assist one another on this exciting journey called life. Mwah xxxxxxxxxxxxx :)

Calling…
icon1 silverbutterfly | icon2 Thoughts | icon4 09 18th, 2006| icon35 Comments »

It started a while ago… although, whether it has been months or weeks or years, I cannot say for certain. There has been a nagging itch somewhere at the back of my mind. I wouldn’t call it discontent or pity or anything negative… No, it’s been more like a “Call to Arms”, a “wake up and do something” a “HELLO - can you not see!!!” I’m sure it’s relatively common, or at least I hope it is.

Then, two months something rather odd happened. I left work earlier than usual (4pm). My reason for leaving was: “I’m not completely sure why, but I just have to go.” My boss was not convinced… but seeing that I’d finished the week’s work, obliged.

I walked out of the building and started walking. It felt like something out of Forrest Gump: here I was, just walking.

Four hours and at least 12 miles later, I was in Knightsbridge in front of my church. Well, church is a bit of an understatement … it’s the Brompton Oratory: a magnificent, breathtaking building. The only place I’d found since returning from my travels in India where I’ve been able to Remember.

I went in.

I sat.

I prayed.

I Remembered.

As I asked for guidance, I noticed something unexpected: on the walk I hadn’t needed to stop. Not once. My steps to the Oratory had been completely unbroken- every traffic light had shown the green man; at every road I needed to cross, a gap had appeared between the cars for me to pass through. I hadn’t eaten all day, and yet I still wasn’t particularly hungry. When moments such as these grace our path, it’s hard not to feel “Connected”. I left that place knowing that I’d been heard… and that when the time was right, the necessary forces would find me.

A few weeks passed and news came from India that our home town (Surat) had been the victim of what was effectively a flash flood. Water levels rose up by 10 feet in 15 minutes. The pictures were shocking. It made me realize how de-sensitized I had become to images of plight. It took the sight of familiar places ruined or suffering to encourage some action.

A week later, on impulse, I wrote an email to friends and family saying I would climb five mountains (four in North Wales, and one in Scotland). It was something I’d been meaning to do for a while. Now I had no excuses… it was the perfect vehicle to encourage some fund-raising. The email was surprisingly well received. That evening I had my first vote of confidence and support. The following day, the pledges started coming in.

The trek to the mountains was a true adeventure. In many ways, I had no right to be there. I wasn’t fit enough and after the first peak my knee gave out. Yet, somehow, I was propelled to the top of every peak… and finally, thank God, returned safely home.

I’ve been back just a little over a week. The pledges to date have been counted up and currently stand at 300GBP. I’m NOT writing this to encouraging more. My Mother is heading out to India in October and we will find a small, grass roots charity/ NGO to work with. Our hope is to build an organization where the donors can feel confident that their monies are being utilized appropriately (with no admin costs from our end), and the people doing the work in India can feel confident that they have a reliable, supportive partner. To do this, a small amount of money is best to start with. So, this post is not to raise cash!

Like the walk, I’m not completely sure how all of this is going to turn out. The challenge (the hill-waling) is done, the money is in the process of being collected and an area where a difference can be made has been found. Now the pieces have to be put together. And that will come over the following weeks and months.

The reason for posting here is this: I had a thought.

Are there others out there? People who look around and know something isn’t quite right. Or am I just a neurotic? My hope is that two people (Amit not included- that would be too easy) will reply to this and say we will Start something.

They will find a cause, organize a fundraiser, set up themselves up formally (bank account/ charity registration where necessary), find a genuine Partner (be it in a developing country or otherwise) and work with them. And then, those two people will find two more… and so on and so on. I know its all very Pay it Forward. But it’s got to be worth a shot.

I’ve had a URL www.SilverButterfly.org for a while. It’s just sitting there. If two people are willing to take the time out (it doesn’t matter which town, city, state, or country) and want to do this and discuss this further. Then we will build the site.

Mother Teresa is quoted as saying: “We cannot do great things, only small things with great love.” If each of us, whoever has the means, picked up a caused and ran with it until it was done, the world, I think, would be very different. But such action is often difficult alone. There are so many reasons not to do it. Maybe, just maybe, there will be a few of you who think there is something in all of this… and together we can make that small bit of difference.

I am at your disposal.

God bless

Seasons

This was another poem that I wrote some years ago. I know my poetry writing isn’t up to scratch but I hope you that you enjoy the deep meaning! :)

In the summertime,
we make plentiful sweet love,
we go to the park,
play games and roll down hills,
the sun keeps us energetic,
long days, always time to do something,
the clear nights bring out the stars,
we gaze for at them till dawn!

In the autumn
we walk through fallen leaves,
loving that special sound,
when it rains we don’t mind,
we dance and get soaked,
you make heart shapes,
on the steamed up window,
i shelter you with my umbrella!

in the winter,
in a blanket next to the fire,
we watch movies till late,
the cold nights keep us close,
we snuggle so tight,
your warm breath on my neck,
in the mornings we can’t let go,
too cosy to get up!

in the springtime,
we go have picnics
in the fresh open fields,
we talk for hours,
afterward go visit the local tapas,
i bring you flowers, freshly picked,
the sweet blooming scent,
willows in through the window.

For every season,
there is a unique sensation,
each period is different,
and special in it’s own right,
every season i love you,
winter, spring summer or fall,
i am with you through it all,
my love.

The SecretThis article is a follow up to the one I wrote last Friday. I just firstly wanted to say huge thank you for the amazing responses and all the lovely ideas, suggestions and feedback, it was graciously appreciated!

Now that I’ve had a few days to mull over the responses and to experiment further, I wanted to do a brief post to display my thoughts on why affirmations work for some, not for others and how we can take affirmations to the next level to manifest exactly what it is that you want to manifest for your life.

First and foremost, if you haven’t seen “The Secret” I highly recommend it. If it’s something completely new to you it will give you a fresh perspective on life and give you some insights on some easy ways of manifesting your dreams into reality. I’m a firm believer that that only way to know is to try for yourself and so that’s what I’ve been doing ever since I first watched the secret back in May. I also purchased the book, “Ask and it is given” by Esther and Jerry Hicks on the teachings of Abraham.

Ok, now to the nitty gritty! :p

Why Affirmations work for some and not for others!

The simple answer is that it is not the affirmation that makes a difference on the level of result, it is the amount of “feeling” that the thoughts generate within you! So, whether you think: “I am rich and wealthy beyond my wildest dreams!” Or whether you think: “I intend one million pounds to come into my life!” is fairly irrelevant to a certain degree. If your intention is wealth then you need to think like a wealthy person! So if neither of those thoughts create any feeling of wealth within you and you are emptily saying those “worded” thoughts again and again in your head, then they will yield absolutely no result what so ever! If, through those thoughts, you feel, wealthy, abundant, prosperous, or happy, then you activate the L.O.A. to bring you closer to that which you desire.

Taking Affirmations to the next level!

Affirmations are a very good way of conditioning the mind to flow towards the thing you desire most. However I believe that there is much more powerful way to get you to the happy feeling state of “having in the now” which takes all of what we talked about before, rolls it up, adds a dash of lemon, and then hey presto you have the recipe of manifestation!

Hurry up, tell us, what is the next step?

Tell yourself a story, in you mind about yourself and all the things that you wish you bring into your experience. Let me just first explain the process: -

1) Worded Thought
2) P.I.C.’s (The creation of images in your mind)
3) Experiential Feelings
4) Reality

Secondly, according to the teachings of the secret and the L.O.A., There is no such concept as delusion! Remember that whether you’re remembering, imagining or observing, you are in a constant state of attraction! So every thought you hold attracts, even the ones that we may potentially class as “delusional”, they are still attracting!

Now, begin a story, in your mind with worded thought. E.g. I am living in a beautiful 7 bedroom house which is white in colour. I have a huge drive way, with plenty of space for my *insert your favourite car or cars here* which is blue in colour. Inside the house, on my right, is my living room which is furnished with wooden floors, deep brown sofas, and paintings of wall of my favourite artist, Salvador Dali. *Continue from here*

You can carry on with as much description as you like, in fact, the more the better!!! Add in, the woman or man of you dreams, what will you be doing together? What is it like when you invite your friends over to the house? Do you have a tennis court? On and on, carry on for as long as you like!

What will gradually happen over time is that your mind will generate the images associated with those words, and then you will start to feel as if you’re already there experiencing the whole perfect scene right now! Eventually the idea is to let those feelings, through the power of the Universe, attract into your life, exactly what it is that you want!

The longer you hold onto this flow of thoughts, the more power you give it! In Ask and it is given it states that after only approximately 17 seconds of focusing your thoughts on a subject is the L.O.A. activated. It you can hold your attention on that thought for 68 seconds and it’s vibration is powerful enough the manifestation process begins! (What a truly magnificent thought! Now to put it to the test!) :)
______________________________

This, as far as I can see, is the fastest way to attract into your life the desires you wish to experience. The more detailed the story you tell yourself, the bigger the manifestation, the longer you can hold onto those experiential feelings, the quicker that manifestation! :)
______________________________

I may be wrong, I may just be stating the obvious, I may even be repeating what someone else has already said without even realising it, but this is a great and quick way to manifest your desires. Don’t just take my word for it, go and experiment, try it for yourself, tell yourself grand stories to generate those feelings and activate the greatest human creative force in the Universe! :D

…and unforunately she was incredibly distraught because she just didn’t know what do to with life. She looked around her and all she could see was her friends moving forward with their lives and as far as she was concerned she was standing still and maybe even moving backwards…

I had a good long conversation with her and managed to make her laugh and also made her realise that no matter if she continued to allow herself to feel this way and not take action to change, then in 5 years times she’s be complaining about exactly the same thing.

If you have a friend in a similar situation, let me just warn you, that sympathy does nothing and infact, it can sometimes even encourage them to wallow in the their self pity even more so! If you are adament that you want to help that person, you have to ignite a spark in them. Snap them out of their depressed state. Even if initially they have to get angry….great let them be angry, let that fire in their belly ignite and then you can work on transforming that fire into desire for transformation.

What ever you do, get them away from the depressing allure of T.V. and get the into a proactive state!

Helping others to reach higher! When I was a young boy, I was a right lil’ terror!! I used to steal things off people, I used to hate having my picture taken so I used to cry and struggle and do anything to get out of having my it done. (oddly enough I now do anything to get in front of the camera!) :p Because I used to get bullied quite a lot I remember also trying to become a bully myself. It never worked of course and I think I got my ass kicked on several occasions.

The only time I remember being agressive in anyway though was when I group of boys tried to attack my girlfriend of that time. Even though I was faced with 6 huge year 11 boys who wanted to beat the crap out of me, the thought of them hurting my girlfriend gave me enough strength and conviction to stand up to them. I think because of the conviction that I felt, they all felt a little intimated and ultimately made the smart decision to leave us alone *flexes muscles* :D

I didn’t realise it at the time but after a while It dawned on me I had a strong desire to help other people and protect those who were, at the time, having difficulty protecting themselves. I didn’t want to take a persons power away from them, I wanted to empower them to help themselves. In some ways, this is a contradiction. How can you empower someone without, in some way, take away their own abilitiy to help themselves?

I realised that just giving advice to people was not enough, in fact, for me, giving advice was the quickest way of disempowering someone. Although I would always be there to listen, I didn’t want to just listen and not in someway be an inspiration for them. I also didn’t want to become the solution to the problem as that was a sure fire way being the antithesis to the solution.

It was on that note that I decided to come up with my top 5 tips for empowering people to act on their own to overcome whatever it is they want to overcome, to do whatever it is they want to do, to achieve whatever it is they want to achieve, to become whatever it is they want to become!

1) Be a good listener - This is probably one of the most obvious ones and yet one of the least used. Can you sit there and listen to someone while they go on and on about their problems? Despite the fact that I believe listening achieves only a small amount on it’s own. People have a need to feel as if they’re being heard. So give people the opportunity to speak their heart out first and then once they have gotton off their chest what it is they that they feel they need to, you can then decide, based on their situation, which of the following steps is best to take.

2) Share your stories - Share your stories of both success and failure! Failure in many ways is more important than the success. Make sure you reveal to them what it was that you learned from the failure. Triumph over adversity is always inspiring especially when that story invokes in people strong emotions because they can relate to that story! Be a good story teller! I’ve noticed that some people have an amazing gift of being able to relate their stories with good humour and at the same time uplift the audience. It’s something that I was never very good at but it’s something that I’m practising now. I look back on my life and find those stories of success and failure that gave rise to change within me.

3) Ask them simple and empowering questions - As a Life Coach, I look to tools such as NLP to give me new ideas on ways to approach a particular problem that someone is having. NLP is great way of getting people to change their perception of the problem. If someone comes to me and says to me, “I hate my job and I want a new job!” I would then ask them, “What actions do you need to undertake now to land yourself the job you desire?” Or “What is your ideal job and what do you need to do to get the job of your dreams?” I may then follow up with something like, “What would happen if you decided not to take action?” And so on. I drill into them to find out what that person is interested in, what gets them motivated, what they want out of life etc until we got them to a stage where they felt compelled to act of their own accord.

4) Get them off their butts and give them new eyes! - If you do some kind of volunteer work, invite them along! This serves one purpose and one purpose only, it’s helps put their problems into perspective! Especially if you’re working with disabled chidren, the elderly, or any group of people that needs extra care and attention, it will offer them a new fresh dimension of life that they previously may never have thought of. There are so many charities, organisations, groups etc that need assistance and support so even if you do not do any, encourage them to find something in their local community!

5) Help yourself - I left this one ’till last but in reality it is one of the most important aspects of helping other people. If you truly desire to help others, then first and foremost, help yourself! If you struggle to wake up every morning and you get depressed every other day then helping others is the last thing you probably want to do. You may end up passing on your depression and problems to the person you’re trying to help and then you’ll both end up in therapy for the better part of a month! :p If you, yourself, are not in a good, stable, and positive emotional state, then that’s the first thing you need to work on. Read powerful books. listen to uplifting music, surround yourself with positive and upbeat people. Don’t mask the problems, get to the root and close the chapter on them once and for all!

There is nothing better in this world then having a pure desire of helping others become more than any limitations that may have been placed on them or they may have placed on themselves. Remember that at every step, every individual has a choice as to which direction they decide to take their lives in so empower people and give them a glimpse into what benefits the power of choice will hold for them.

May the P.O.C. be with you! :D

Thought PatternsMost of the time, without even realising it, we are repeating thoughts to ourselves in our heads. When I use the word “thought” I mean any sort of word, imagery or feeling that occurs in the mind. I’ve probably mentioned this before in one of my previous blog posts but there is a saying by Henry Ford that goes: Whether you think you can or you can’t, you are right! So if you keep repeating to yourself that you cannot do something, what do you think will be the result overall?

So lets say for example, that you’re at work and you’re given a task, and it’s not an easy task by any means, but you keep saying to yourself; “I can’t do this, I can’t do this, I don’t want to do this, I can’t be bothered, I can’t do this.” What do you think will be the ultimate result of that thinking?

The process of repetitive thought has come to us in many guises. There are mantras, incantations, affirmations, prayers, chants, etc and all of these have a similar resulting effect. However, mundanely saying a thought again and again and again to yourself doesn’t achieve much on its own; the power comes from the feeling associated with those thoughts. So for example, If you keep telling people and repeating to yourself; “I am ill” and you feel ill and you keep telling people that you’re ill then the ultimate result of that is you feel even more crappy because that’s what you keep telling yourself, and everyone else, that you are!

So you might then ask, “If I am ill, do I keep telling myself that I’m well, aren’t I just deluding myself?” The simple answer is no, you’re not deluding yourself, but you choose your thoughts and if you can find a constructive way of changing your state and emotion then the faster you will heal. Most doctors will tell you that the more stressed your are, the weaker your immune system, whereas, the happier you are, the less likely you are to become ill. I personally am quite healthy and I don’t get ill often, but if I do, If I’m bed bound I may watch some comedies and I heal much quicker than if I was depressed and if I felt overwhelmed by the illness. I do have a serious health condition, it doesn’t affect me that much in my day to day life, but the docs have warned me that if I don’t act now, then I potentally could face serious repercussions in the future.

In the past, I used to think to myself: “Oh no, what am I going to do, I’m always going to be this way, I’m never going to get better!” So this series of repetitive thoughts led me to feeling stressed and unhappy. As doctors say, stress leads to a weaker immune system. Not only that, people hated being around me because I would make them depressed too! :p So after a while, I changed my perception of the condition and in time my whole attitude towards it changed. My new chain of repetitive thoughts went along the lines of: “I feel good, happy and I am greatful that I can run, jump and play” It wasn’t always exactly the same, but I would use these patterns of repetition to break the cycle of the less productive thought patterns. And I love being around people and I like to think people love being around me because I’m always, happy and cheerful and those feelings and attitudes rub off onto them.

Everything is repetition! You wake up, brush your teeth, have a shower, go to work or begin your daily routine, you eat, watch t.v., etc and the repetition of life continues. As I said earlier whether you’re consciously aware of it or not your life is repetition. A big part of that is the repetitive thougths that you will have on a day to day basis. So, breaking the cycle of a current set of repetitive thought patterns is not and easy thing to do, but doing so will change your state of being and the way you feel about any given situation or circumstance that occurs. One of the best ways of breaking that repetition is something I posted on earlier called “Minute Meditations.” Minute meditations are ways breaking old thought patterns, into newer, more positive and powerful thoughts at various times during the day when you’re performing a mundane task. So it could be while you’re driving, standing in a queue, cooking brushing your teeth, or at any other time when you choose. Consciously force yourself out of the old pattern and initiate a new pattern and then allow yourself to unconsciously flow into the new pattern.

The more you consciously direct your thought patterns in the direction you want to go, the more drive and energy you will have to follow through with anything you want to do and the more your creative juices will begin flowing!

As Tony Robbins says; “Repetition is the mother of skill” so go and be a repetition master of your life! :)

VirusWoah! It’s been an absolutely manic couple of days at work. Unfortunately we got hit by the W32/Opanki.worm virus which affected many of our servers and computers at work that had yet to be patched correctly. Thankfully though, we’ve now managed to get it all under control and with a bit of TLC our servers and computers are well again! :)

The virus got me thinking though. It got me thinking about viruses that affect humanity. I’m not talking about the common cold, or the flu, I’m talking about the human mind. When I talk about viruses of the human mind, I’m talking about negative images, thoughts and words that are spread which ultimately create a result that we do not desire. Just a quick flick through the tabloids and papers will give a good indication of peoples thoughts are directed. Or does it? Is it actually, the other way around? Are those words and images being printed creating and stirring feelings within us that affect the way we think and feel? I truly think it is the latter and it is with that I have consciously decided to keep steer myself away from those things.

I picked up a tabloid paper recently and I found that my physiolgy and emotional state changed in accordance with what I was reading! That was the first time, I consciously felt those sorts of changes, I actually felt the various chemical reactions going off in my body…what does that say about the things being written about?

I don’t want to close myself off completely from what is going on in the world. Nope, that wouldn’t be just as counter productive as those things ruling my life. What I now do is I very briefly watch the news in the mornings and I have an extremely quick skim through the headlines of the newspapers in the canteen at work in the mornings. I do this to stay informed of events around the globe. For those events might require my attention at a later stage. Someone may ask my opinion, and for that, I may have a valid and constructive one to offer. It’s important to keep abreast of current affairs but i think it is unwise to be overwhelmed by events to the point where is creates stress within me because it makes me less productive.

Because I’ve reduced the amount of attention that I’ve given to t.v., newspapers etc, I’ve found that I’m much more able to focus my thoughts and attention in the area that I choose. Recently I did an experiment on seeing all humans as angels and had interesting results. More recently I’ve been creating and guiding my thoughts towards creating more abundance in my life and again I’ve had some very interesting results!

To conclude, I would say to anyone, stay informed, but don’t be overwhelmed. The feeling of being overwhelmed acts like a virus, it spreads not only through your being but to the others around you.

May the power of choice be with you! :p

Back to SchoolBack to School – But Wait! You Can’t Go

Summer has officially ended, the leaves are beginning to change colours as the seasons shifts to autumn and university is about to start. However, students all over Canada are facing the decision of whether or not to go back – students who are relatively good students. One must question why this is the case, well it’s simple really: the government isn’t allowing us the opportunity to further our education.

childrenYesterday I was in southall park doing a charity fun run with disabled children. I had an absolutely amazing time. The children were so full of life and they enjoyed every minute as did I.

After we finished the run we decided to play some cricket and so we paired up and I had one of the young ones in a wheel chair and my job was to push them to get the runs and increase our score. We had so much fun and all of the children there were an enormous inspiriation for me.

You know how you get those moments though that alwasy stick in your mind and make you smile? Well yesterday there was this on child there, he was in a wheel chair was almost completely incapacitated. He had minimal use of his arms and so one of the helpers was holding the cricket bat in his hand with him. All I remember is seeing a huge smile on that childs face and it almost brought a tear to my eyes.

I could see how much fun he was having and how appreciative he was that there were people around him giving him so much love, support and encouragement.

But that smile has now burned and imprint into my memory banks. I will always remember the look on his face and anytime I do it creates and immense feeling of joy within me! Anytime I feel lost, hurt, down or upset I will always remember that image because for me, that image, creates within me, a feeling of not only joy and love and but inspires me to act!! Here is a young child who cannot do much and yet the most simple thing gives him overwhelming joy!

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find your empowering thought. Find that extra special thought for you that “inspires you to act” and use that thought as a tool to give you that burst of energy to make it happen! :D This message will self destruct in 5…4…3…2…1 ((((((BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM)))))))

108 Deities(The picture is of 1 of the 108 deities sitting in meditation at the dilwara temple in Mount Abu, India. Hence the speciality of my 108th post!) Wow, I can’t believe I’ve had this blog going since December and this is now my 108th post!! Going back and looking at some of my first posts it’s made me see that I have come a long way.

I remember telling people about blogging, when I first began, about the great network you can develop by blogging. That’s absolutely true, I’m met some amazing people, just through blogging and it’s been an absolute priveledge getting to know some of those amazing souls! But’s it’s been much much more too! I feel like I’ve grown, expanded, fallen, and grown and risen again. And through it all I’ve experienced pain, joy, love, passion, pride, humility fear, courage, and that to me, has been the biggest thing of all, through this medium called “blogging”, I have had real true experiences. This to some people is just a screen sitting in front of them. But to me, electrical signals are passed all around the globe and reach you an me in seconds! I can convey to the world, my sentiments, feelings and I will never truly fathom how far or wide these words will reach. All I know is I used courage, to take a plunge and put my words and feelings out there in the electrical ether for all to experience with me.

My true aim is for these words to reach people and have an positive impact. I know that I only get a few hundred visitors a month but that to me is more that I ever thought possible in the beginning. When I began I didn’t know where to start of what to even write about. Of course there was the Power of Choice but I couldn’t write about the same thing over and over again. I had to explore parts of me that I never knew existed. It’s not easy thinking about new ideas and creating new avenue’s of exploration every day but It is incredibly fulfilling and soul-creating. Even if your realease is not blogging, find an avenue of create release that is stimulating and feels re-creative to you!

Anyway, that’s enough babbling from me, I just wanted to leave you with this article that I saw on the Interenational Herald Tribune Website about Andre Agassi. The guy is 36 years old and is still up there with the best of them giving them one heck of scare!! I have so much respect for him and he’s one of my life hero’s because he has shown that age means nothing, that if you have a passion for something and you love doing something, then don’t make excuses about your age. I have made a commitment to myself that every year on my birthday I will challenge myself, physically, spiritually, mentally more and more to keep myself young, fit, healthy, and spiritually sound because I don’t believe that getting physically older, should become an excuse to do less and less. Thank you Mr Agassi! :D
