Running

In 3 months and 7 days time I will lining up with 40,000 other individuals to run the Virgin London Marathon.

As I write this I’m already feeling that burning sensation in the pit of my stomach because, although that might seem a long time, it’s actually just a whisker away!

While I try my best to get my Buddha belly into shape I would love it if you could sponsor me and help raise loads of wonga for the Little Haven Hospice.

If you would like to donate – click here.

If you cannot afford to donate then do not worry, I’ve mentioned in the past there are many ways of be charitable that doesn’t include money.

You could retweet this post a few times, or like it on Facebook, or you could even send it to some very wealthy friends and then emotionally blackmail them! Okay, don’t do that, but perhaps you can even help keep me honest by making sure I don’t consume any more Egg McMuffins from Macdonalds!

Whatever you do, please do not donate out of obligation, only donate or promote this if you truly wish to.

If you don’t know my story then it’s safe to say that this has been quite a journey for me, from the first time I ran a 5.5km race back in 2006 to my second half marathon in 2009.

From the moment I began the journey of losing weight and getting fit it’s been full of challenges.

Ever since I first began losing weight I’d always said that I wanted to run the marathon before I was 35, and now that I finally have my ballot place, I’m going to do just that!

I’ve been keeping up the little things which I know will overall make the biggest difference but I still have so much work to do.

It’s going to be pretty intense over the next 3 months, so if you see any really rubbish articles here, or just really poor spelling and grammar, I’m just going to blame it on the training fatigue!

Whatever happens, I’m going to say thank you now for any past or future support, wish me luck!

Hi Amit.

Running with 40000 is going to be real good. I ran one time with 12000 people and had one of the greatest evenings ever(it was a night race). I very much like running with huge amounts of people, or versus them.

You have signed up to do a great thing.

Hey the run I did was a 10K or around 6.4 miles. It was really fun and I will do it again, or some sort of half-marathon if I find a good one. There is little else like the thrill of passing 10000 people. I’ve run all my life so I’m made for runs of this type. Thanks for reminding me to look for another one.

Hi Amit! I wish you lots of luck on completing the marathon. My daughter recently ran a 1/2 marathon for the first time so I can relate to all the commitment and training that goes into complete such a huge task.
You’ll do great, my friend! I’m cheering for you. Loving blessings!

Hey Andrea! That’s amazing about your daughter….I’ve done the half marathon twice too. When I finished, I almost couldn’t stop running. My legs were exhausted but it almost felt like it was taking an incredible amount of energy just to stop them! Thank you so much for your support! :-)

Hello Amit–

Just stumbled across your blog, and it’s inspirational to say the least! Good for you on making the commitment to running a marathon. I’m running my first 10k in years in May here in Vancouver. So I have another couple months left worth of egg McMuffins :p

Best of luck!

LOL – don’t tell anyone but I had another Egg McMuffin this morning…*whistels* La dee da…Oh look over there….it’s a flying pig!

See you around!

Hey Lovephool, thanking you very kindly, I’ll keep that in mind because I’m no I’m going to be swayed by the lure of chocolate muffins and crackers and cheese! How often do you go running?

2-3 times a week try and get a 10miler in if I can. More often if I’m feeling stressed. I need one today actually …. but back to back calls/ then meeting. Might try and squeeze one at 4.30 today before evening event. It’s my happy fix, takes you out of your head and into your heart, especially when running outside …. can flirt with trees at the same time :-) Been running for 10 years, was supposed to do marathon this year too, but injury and starting business meant have to postpone …. trust me, a good running kick …. better than chocolate! Oh yeah …. if you need a training buddy let me know!

You do 10 miles + 3 times a week? Wow, you are dedicated! I’m not as keen a runner as I used to be. I prefer trekking and mountain running more these days, but this marathon is just something I gotta do! I only run once a week at the moment. Will be up to 10 miles in about 6 weeks, other times I go swimming twice a week and badminton up to 4 times a week. Awww shame you’re not doing the marathon too, would’ve been great to do it with someone.

LOL @ flirting with trees, first times I’ve ever heard that, so, do you use some kind of chat-up line on them like…”woah, your foliage is looking rather ravishing today, may I pluck a leaf?” :-P

Running kick Vs Chocolate…I’ve got something that stomps those two!
